In Need of Something to Read?

It is still the holiday season, which means there is plenty of time to pick up a novel, open a bottle of wine and relax for the evening.

For some reading suggestions, I found a great list made by BAILEYS Women’s Prize for  Fiction.

The Women’s Prize (BWPFF) is a fantastic list of the best full length fiction written by women. The awards are given out by a panel of judges. Five women create the panel and a new panel is chosen every year.

The winner of the 2013 BWPFF is:

May-We-Be-ForgivenPB-378x581

I have unfortunately not had the opportunity to read this novel, but the synopsis sounds quite good.

BWPFF has released a short list, as well as a long list of novels chosen.

Reading a novel too strenuous?

I don’t blame you if picking up a long novel is too much for your stressful holiday times. If this is the case, I still have some perfect choices for you.

Artist Anne Taintor is hilarious and very creative. I’m sure that you, at some point, have seen her work. I own two of her books and I laugh every time I pick them up.

One of them is “Someone has to set a bad example.”

If you’re interested in beautifully illustrated stories, then look no further than Kay Nielsen’s Scandinavian folk tales illustrations in “East of the Sun and West of the Moon.

This requires minimal reading and full enjoyment of wonderful illustrations.

These are just a few suggestions and I hope that at least one of them has caught your eye. Is there anything that you would suggest to read?
