ASOS Bans Angora Due to Shocking Animal Abuse

It has recently been revealed that fur from rabbits is being taken from the animal while they are still alive. The video shows a small portion of what you would see in the factory.

ASOS, along with Marks and Spencer, Next and H&M now bans all products made with angora.

Along with this announcement, a video looking into the mistreatment of animals in Chinese factories was released. The video shows fur being violently ripped from screaming rabbits.

An ASOS spokesperson said:

ASOS firmly believes it is not acceptable for animals to suffer in the name of fashion or cosmetics.  ASOS is a member of the Fur Free Alliance of retailers and recognises that the sourcing of angora and other rabbit hair products causes distress to animals.
As such, we will remove all ASOS and third party branded product that fails to meet the policy and no new orders will be raised containing angora or other rabbit hair.

The photos are truly devastating, so I will not be putting them in this post. For the photos and actual video footage, please go to the Daily Mail article.

  1. It’s sad indeed. What’s scary is that China REQUIRES animal testing of cosmetic products. Example – Mary Kay sold out and expanded to China. Now the products are, indeed, tested on animals.

  2. It’s very scary. I remember I was so shocked when I first learned about the requirement. But recently I read that they are considering to end it. That was a few months ago though, so I’m not quite sure where they are on that at the moment.
