An attempted assassination on Bulgarian politician, Ahmen Dogan, failed
Ahmed Dogan, the leader of Bulgaria’s Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), was assaulted at the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia on Saturday, January 19.
Oktai Enimehmedov, 25, climed onstage and held a gun to Dogan’s head. The gun reportedly jammed and was unable to shoot.
After the attempted assassination, Enimehmedov was reportedly beaten by delegates and other officials after Dogan wrestled the man on stage.
Dogan “is in good health. Everything is under control,” said MRF official Ceyhan Ibryamov.
“The true reason for the assault was the language of hatred and confrontation,” said Lyutvi Mestan, who is to replace Dogan.
